  • Quartz Glass Installation Centerpiece This narrative installation (meaning a combination of mediums) consists of five pages that, slide into and out of, five 10% degree angled slots cut into a carved portion of driftwood with found objects of pine needles, pine cones, river reeds, and a real butterfly & dragonfly assembly. They will have dried dragonfly and moth accented. The installation might have some carving and will be finished. My plan is to have all the parts easily disassemble for easy cleaning. The quartz pages sit at a 10% degree angle so the viewer can look down through the pages. Cindy Peterson Hook-On Narrative Quart Glass Sand Blasting 5.75" square X 3/16" D Private Collection

  • Have fun, learn new skills, and explore your artistic potential while working in a professional studio. This is an introduction class to the beautiful ancient Indonesian art form of Batik. Students will create practice pieces painting directly on fabric, then they will create a practice piece dip dying their fabric, and then they will use both processes together on their fabric designs. Students will use unbleached muslin fabric for their projects. Batik is a process where artists use wax to keep their fabric dyes from moving into unwanted places in their designs. Wax is used to arrest certain hand painted areas or dipped dyed areas of their composition. Wax is used to protect certain portions of your design from unwanted contamination of other fabric dyes or dip dyes. Wax is used to create the crackle effect only seen in the Batik medium.

  • Clear Glass Globe Light Clear Glass Globe Light, Sunflower & Dandelion, globe 7.5" diameter, base 3.5" diameter with a LED light kit with On-Off Switch Clear Glass Globe Light. In a former life around 1950 or later these glass globes were made for displaying live flowers. My 80ish-year-old, second mom, Shirley confirmed this fact. At the base was a spongy form rubber frog that the flowers were stuck into stand up straight, and you placed the glass globe on top pushing it into place on the rubber form base. I re-purposed it by blasting the glass with flowers and removed the spongy rubber insert and installed a LED light kit. This was a great way to create another use for this discarded flower holder. Loved doing this project!
